Igor gets stuck and no further work is possible

After I've installed an new driver for the graphic card sometimes Igor gets stuck.

All windows are still accessible but when I want to make changes an press ok nothing
will happen. The commands are still visible in the command line but there is no cursor visible
and i cannot press enter and run the command or start a makro although Igor shows 'ready' in
the left bottom corner.

I've restarted Igor and the notebook bur the proplem is still there. I couldn't find any bug reports
or further information on this problem.

Has anyone of you seen this before and found a solution?

We have had a couple of reports where commands entered into the command line, either manually or via a dialog that generates commands, do not execute. Both reports were on Windows 7. I don't know if this is your situation or not.

We have not found the cause but we have found two workarounds reported to work by one of the users:

1. Run Igor as administrator.

2. Run Igor in XP compatibility mode.


To set a shortcut to run as administrator on Windows 7:

1. Create the shortcut from Igor.exe and put the shortcut on your desktop or anywhere you like.

2. Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties.

3. Click the Shortcut tab.

4. Click the Advanced button.

5. Check Run as Administrator.

6. Click OK.

7. Click OK again.

Now when you double-click the shortcut, Igor will run as administrator.

Another user reports the problem after updating his nVIDIA NVS 5200M graphics driver as well as other software.

I have no idea how a graphics driver could cause such a problem. If it does then it would seem to be a bug in the driver.
