Igor reloads my experiment several times when I open Igor
LeChat
When I start Igor, it loads (and reloads) my experiment several times about 5 or 7 times before I can use it.
I tried to reinstall the software but nothing has changed.
I also installed the 6.1 version and the problem does not appear (but some packages I use in my .pxp are missing). Then when I update to 6.37 the problem comes back.
Any idea would be appreciated :)
Thank you!
Did you try to save the experiment in a new file? Is the behavior also present in the new file?
Can you reproduce this effect with a small demo experiment file you might share?
I guess one of the packages is causing trouble. Start with a minimal experiment and subsequently add your packages and see when the error comes back.

If it is Mac OS, try going into the General system preferences and checking the Close Windows When Quitting App checkbox.

I am running Mac OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite) and Igor Pro 6.37.
It happens when I LAUNCH Igor by opening a .pxp file. It also does it when I start Igor from the App menu (for instance when clicking on the Igor icon in the Dock) but certainly because I set my OS so that any app loads the last document ("experiment" in Igor) opened if it were not close prior to quit the app (I don't remember how I set this up on my Mac though).
Please find attached a sample .pxp file that does the trouble when I open Igor with it. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not restart. I is weird. Right now it did not restart, but 5 minutes ago it did. I restarted Igor a couple times in the meantime...
Thank you for your help and attention,

What Howard was referring to is the Mac OS trying too hard to be helpful. When you close an application it will try to determine what windows were open; it expects each window to be a separate document. But Igor doesn't work that way, and the OS interferes with Igor properly opening an experiment file. So the problem shows up when you re-open Igor, but the problem is caused by information the OS has saved when you last closed Igor.

that's a real shame because it makes me change this setup for my whole OS but indeed it solved my problem.
Thank you all.

PS : does this setting also has to be checked when using the new Igor 7?
