Layout adds "margins" to figures? How to stop?

Hi,
I'm creating figures for a manuscript. The journal requires multi-part figures be submitted as one figure, so I have to lay them out and submit them accordingly.

My individual figures are 3.25x2.5 inches. I would like the resulting figure to be 3.25x5 inches (two figures stacked), so I created a custom page size of that. Then I placed my figures in the layout, and double clicked on them to size them, but it won't let me make them any bigger than 3.22 inches wide. Basically the final picture when I export the graphics is not the same size as the page size that I made (taking into account DPI.)

What's the right way to do this?

EDIT: I tried using a bigger page size since it seems that igor just exports the figures, but even when I size the figures individually to 3.25x2.5, and place them perfectly (to the pixel), it'll still output a tiff file at 1015 pixels wide (300 DPI) where it should be 975.

Yes, I could probably just splice the images together in photoshop or similar, but I figured if I used the source program it'd result in higher quality figures.

EDIT2: When exporting graphics from a layout it adds 0.06833 inches to each side of the figure, for a total of 0.1366 total to both the x and y. I don't know why, it seems to do it regardless of what size your page is or your figures are.

This is an ill-advised attempt on Igor's part to be helpful and dates from 1990.

Use the marquee tool to specify the section of the layout to be exported. The marquee tool is the dashed rectangle icon.

After dragging out a marquee, choose File->Save Graphics. This will generate a command that takes the marquee into account.
