File Size
Ken
After looking at my backup files, I found that my IGOR packed experiment file size grew from 500 KB to 25 MB in just one afternoon (the size size was relatively stable before and after that point). What are some possible reasons the file grew so large in such a short amount of time? I know that there couldn't have been that much of a change to the procedural window in one afternoon.
When I saved the file as an uxp file, there is a file called miscellaneous in the associated folder which alone takes over 20 MB. Could the miscellaneous file have anything to do with the file size increase? What contents does it carry? How could I change the settings so that whatever unnecessary contents is carried can be discarded?
Thanks.
The miscellaneous file also stores page setup records but they are small.
Also XOP settings.
It stores a variety of other items that are small.

This seems like a good way to find less than obvious items that are taking up large chunks of memory and file space.
Is there a way to get this information from a packed experiment file or from an opened experiment?

The only thing of any significant size in the miscellaneous file is pictures and you can see them in an open experiment by choosing Misc->Pictures.
That dialog does not show you the size in bytes. This would be a good addition for the future.
