No output to notebook

I intensively use the plaintext notebook for writing and executing Igor commands (via Ctrl+Enter). However, I do not want to get the output written to the notebook, but only into the history area.
I know, that I can write-protect the notebook before executing (by clicking with the mouse on the pencil symbol), but as I use the notebook very often and interactively, it gets a bit annoying to do that each time.
Therefore, it would be great, if there would be a setting like "When entering a command via a notebook, do not write command output to the notebook".
