Asylum/IgorPro
Hi
I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question:
I have been using Asylum software linked to our AFM (MFP-3D) for force measurements.
When I save my experiment to my external hard drive and then load it in IgorPro on my laptop to analyse and manipulate the data I cannot load any of the data and it says ' 'While executing a control's action procedure, the following error occurred: You need to compile the procedure windows before you use controls.'.
Specifically, I have generated force volume maps and I wish to go away and check/alter the fit of each force curve so that it is more accurate. When I load my experiment, I can see the force volume map as an image only - I cannot get access to any of the individual force maps associated with it.
After speaking to people in my department, I was advised that I need to download both Asylum and IgorPro and somehow link them - but no one seems to remember how this is done.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!
Your question would probably be better directed towards Asylum's technical support, as we (WaveMetrics) are not familiar with their software and don't have access to it.
As far as I am aware, Asylum's software only runs using Igor Pro 6, not the latest version, Igor Pro 8. So make sure that you're using an old version of Igor.
Also, check that Igor is set to compile procedure code by default. You can do that by starting Igor, pressing Ctrl+M to open the main procedure window, and then type some text (anything will work) into the procedure window. Then select the Macros menu item. Make sure that Auto-compile is checked. This is the default value of this setting but sometimes users turn it off by mistake and that can cause the error you describe.

Assuming that you are working on a windows computer and (as ac commented) are using Igor v6 (Asylum software does not work with Igor versions beyond 6, you do want to be running the latest version of version 6.), the following is a quick description of the steps you need to follow...
1) Make a second copy of the Igor Pro folder in the root directory of the C: drive. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\WaveMetrics folder and copy the Igor Pro Folder folder (Highlight Igor Pro Folder, right click, select "copy".). Paste in the root directory of the C: drive. You can rename the new copy of the Igor folder to something convenient like "Asylum_V16" if, for example, you're using Version 16 of the MFP3D software.
2) Download the Asylum software and have it install to the new Igor folder.
During installation, you won't need the USB drivers unless you plan to run the instrument from your laptop. You can let it install the thumbnail viewer to get more info on data files from the windows file explorer.
The install will create a desktop icon that can be used to launch Igor with the MFP3D procedures & XOPs loaded. Once Igor/Asylum is launched, load and analyze your data as usual.
This simple set of instructions should get you going.
