I want to plot some points on a map. I have seen this done with igor pro (it is shown on there one page brochure that I have). What I have right now is some GPS data points. I imagine I'll need to convert those to an x,y axis and then plot them and then add a picture to the background of the graph. Is there an easier way?

Thanks a lot,

Not really. If you have a picture of the map you need, and it's in the correct units for your data, it's not hard to do.
If you don't have the map, you may be able to download one. Some formats are handled by the GISLoadWave XOP (found in your Igor Pro folder in Igor Extensions, there's also help file there). For examples, there are two example experiments to look at. Pull down the File menu and select Example Experiments->Feature Demos->GIS Utilities Demo or Example Experiments->Feature Demos->HalfDomeDemo
