Lag when selecting text and doing copy-paste
Bastien
I'm using Igor pro 6.36 on a macbookpro late 2013 with Yosemite and I'm experiencing quite tiresome lags when I am selecting text. This happens only when I select text with the mouse cursor, for instance, if i select the text "display" to replace it with "appendtograph", I would only get "endtograph". This does not happen if I select text using keyboard and I also observe some lag when I try to place a cursor on a graph so I suppose this problem is related to the mouse cursor... Does anyone experience a similar problem? any idea on how to solve it ?
Thanks
I do not see it on my 2014 MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.3 (developer preview). I never saw it an any previous version of Yosemite that I tested.
If you search for "Yosemite mouse lag" you will find lots of hits, like this one: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1802931
I have experienced problems with bluetooth mice caused by interference from WIFI. However if the problem affects only Igor then it would not be a hardware problem. Still, I would try turning WIFI off if you use it.
The problem is conceivably caused by an Igor procedure or extension. To test this you need to disable all automatically-loaded procedures and extensions by temporarily renaming you "Igor Procedures" and "Igor Extensions" folders. You have two "Igor Procedures" folders and two "Igor Extensions" folders. Execute this for details:

If it happened only in certain experiments then it suggests that it is related to an Igor procedure or perhaps to the contents (waves, variables, windows, dependencies, ...) of the experiment.
If the problem comes back, first verify that it does not happen in a new experiment. Then make sure your files are backed up and open an experiment that illustrates the problem. Save the experiment as a copy under a new name. Delete all waves and data from the experiment. See if the problem goes away. If so then revert the experiment and delete half of the waves and retest. And so on.
If the problem still appears after deleting all waves, close all procedure files, including independent modules. Execute this for details on independent modules:
Test again. And so on.
You can also test XOPs. Execute this for details on XOPs:
Also make sure you understand the "Igor Pro User Files" concept by executing this and reading the help:
